As its name may suggest, PDF Unlocker is intended to remove protection from PDF documents. The application’s installer is lightweight; however, it may require downloading additional files, particularly those corresponding to Microsoft .Net technologies. Fortunately, the tool can work even if Adobe Acrobat is not installed on your computer. However, you do need that program or some other application that supports opening PDFs to view the file’s contents.
The tool’s graphical user interface is quite intuitive, so I’m sure you’ll find your way even if it’s the first time you use it. Everything may be as simple as selecting the desired documents and deciding what type of protection to remove, including those for printing, extracting, editing and copying. It’s a good thing that it can help preview the contents of the documents as well as their protection settings. Moreover, the tool preserves the original files and new ones are created instead. It’s a pity, however, that the personal license allows you to use the tool only in single-file mode, which means that it can’t process batches of files.
All in all, PDF Unlocker is quite effective in its task. Regrettably, it won’t work with corrupted PDF files, which is a major disadvantage. Besides, if you guessed from the application´s name that it could help you crack the passwords of protected PDFs, you were, unfortunately, wrong, for it hasn’t been designed with that idea in mind.
